Reduce frustration at your daycare centre - introduce Baby sign language!
Why would you introduce baby sign language into your daycare?
- Enables early communication, pre-verbal babies are able to communicate their wants and needs before they can talk.
- a calmer, less frustrated environment for both the childcare workers and babies as a result of the reduced frustration over not being able to communicate.
- Promotes bilingualism, sign language forms the bridge between the word and it’s meaning, which is ideal for a country which has such a mix of cultures.
- Accelerated development of verbal language, signing children tend to show a stronger command of language due to the fact that they had the concepts of language in their brain a younger age.
- Baby can start signing back from the age of 6 months and have a signing vocabulary of over 40 words by the time they are 9 months old. In comparison to a non-signing baby who has a vocabulary of 2-3 spoken words.
- More interaction between care giver and baby. This can be extended into the child’s family life, the signs they learn at creche can be used at home with mom and dad thus helping them too.
- Builds babies self confidence and self-esteem as they are able to make themselves understood.
- Wonderful activities are introduced to helps baby learn the signs and ultimately helps with language development
- Signing to a baby is fun, as soon as baby’s fine motorskills needed for speech is developed they will move over to words.
Will signing take up much of your time?
The beauty of teaching babies and toddlers to sign is it does not take extra time. The whole process gets incorporated in to your daily routine. Babies love to mimic us, it is a natural human tendency and they will learn as many signs as we show them. It’s a process that comes naturally to baby, thus not something that is forced upon them.
We provide you with all the necessary information and train staff at your premises. (once off 2 hour training session). We work through the same information as the parent/nanny workshop.
